Reds infielder Christian Encarnacion-Strand has been sent down to the minor leagues.The team announced the move on Saturday morning.This comes after Encarnacion-Strand has had a more muted performance on the field this season compared to other Reds infielders such as Spencer Steer, Santiago Espinal, and Noelvi Marte.Encarnacion-Strand, who is also known by his initials of "CES", has had a batting average of .208 this season. He has hit 6 home runs and recorded 19 RBIs in his 36 appearances with the team in 2025.Encarnacion-Strand will spend some time with the Reds' AAA affiliate, the Louisville Bats, effective immediately. Despite this, he will still remain on the team's 40-man roster.This is despite Encarnacion-Strand hitting a game-winning grand slam just last week that saved the Reds from being swept against the Boston Red Sox.Additionally, the Reds announced on Saturday morning that outfielder Jake Fraley has been reactivated for the team and has been moved off the injured list.The Reds did not give any indication of how long the move of Encarnacion-Strand to the Bats may last.
